Golden Hour Maui Elopement
Dan and Morgan are the kind of of couple where you can see how they fit like two puzzle pieces when together. Both caring, adventurous, and down to have a good time these two were a blast to photograph ! Living here on Maui and wedding planning during the 2020 lockdown was no easy feat with a number of loved ones living on the east coast. Though with their, “ get it done ” , attitude these two organized a stunning wedding on Maui’s North side in Paia for the summer of 2021. However, with all of the planning and let’s be real stress that goes into wedding planning we decided to take a hot minute to celebrate a few weeks before the wedding with some elopement styled captures on Maui’s far West Side.
I am a firm believer that details make the world go round - okay what does that mean ? It means I like to break - it - down when it comes to sessions, elopements, and weddings. With about 98% of my clients not being based where I live I want to paint the clearest picture possible for locations, timelines, and what to expect with the experience for working with me. To make this session come together we had a mood board for visual representation , a map of the area we would be photographing at , a timeline of how getting ready will go, several outfit options on hand , and some of the best vendors on island for florals + hair/makeup. Also a very very close eye on weather since we are in the tropics and weather can always change in a matter of minutes.
We started the day grabbing some coffee and kicking it from Maui’s West Side in Lahaina up to Pukalani ( Upcountry Maui ) for a visit with Shelby ( @JUNGLEHONEYBEAUTY ) . Shelby is equally talented as well as kind where the getting ready prep felt more like a girls hang out for all of us. Once the magic was done it was time to head back to the West Side to get ready to zip up north for the session. Well Hawaii kept things interesting where rain and wind had both blown in. However, with the prep all done and everything else ready to go we decided to stick with the game plan but keep things laid back in case we were possibly rained out.
I am beyond thrilled that we pushed through because my goodness was the session a dream ! Despite the winds on the cliffs high above the sea the views were spectacular and this couple was fire ! Though take a peek below for yourself to see what you think :)
As much as I will forever be a fan of the pretty details that go into weddings there is something incredibly special about just being you and your person when it comes to saying , “ I do”. There is always time to celebrate with family and friends but taking in some gorgeous views with the best view being the love of your life right in front of you is pretty amazing way to start of your lives together .
