Fall in Southern California is something magical - The temperatures may drop slightly but only enough to add on stylish layers, the leaves begin their colorful change, and the lighting is something that makes a photographer’s heart oh so very happy. It’s basically the perfect season for some dreamy photos.

This year I was lucky to jump over to beautiful San Diego, California several times and during these trips capture some fun light soaked photoshoots. As someone who lives in Hawaii I have no complaints about the incredible scenery here but visiting the city of San Diego is the equivalent of a child going to Disneyland for me. Each visit I find new areas to explore and dare I say envy the incredible amount of options local photographers have to play around with from how unique each section of the city is. It’s safe to say I will not tire of being able to explore and document clients in the city of San Diego ( or any part of the Golden State) anytime soon. Though enough about my love for SD, let’s dive into this featured couple’s session —

S + J are as sweet and fun in person as they appear in the images below. Within the first 5 minutes together I had felt as if I had known them for years with how warm their personalities are. Leading up to the session date S and I had bounced a few ideas back and forth on where the photoshoot should take place. In a trip I had taken last year to San Diego I had stayed in the North Park area where I thought it would be fun to do a photoshoot there. It turns out North Park is where S + J call home so it was the perfect place for our session to take place at.

During our session together we kept it very go with the flow the only concrete plan was to have a good time all together. We took photos in front of the couple’s favorite murals, sections of the strip where sun rays burst through the buildings as the sun began it’s decent, and at a park that the pair takes their children to. Our time together was only about 30 minutes but filled with laughter, unique dance moves, and easy flowing conversation.
